I have installed the adapter, but the computer cannot find the product I connected.

Try disconnecting the adapter from the computer, connecting the desired device to the adapter and reconnecting the cable. Also remember to switch the connected device on.

Why did my computer install the driver itself when I connected the adapter to my USB port?

Check the rear label on your adapter. If the model is 133-08C, you have the latest hardware version that does not need a separate driver installation.
